Building N=1 Companies Requires N=1 Teams

Over the past year, we’ve zeroed in on the work we do best. It’s less about industry, role, or stage and more about the distinctiveness of the problem that needs to be solved.

Most of our work is n-of-1 searches: highly complex, highly regulated, or deeply specialized roles that other firms either avoid or are less likely to execute well because they haven’t done something similar before. And yet, this is where we thrive. We’re proud to work with companies like Gemini Crypto Exchange, Planet Labs, ICON, Samara, Findigs, Abby Care, Nourish, and Marble Health—category-defining companies building things that have never been built before.

This kind of work demands n-of-1 people. People with exceptional judgment, nuance, and grit. People who have outperformed in demanding environments and know how to operate when the stakes are high. Our existing team brings this skill set every day, and it’s critical that we maintain this incredibly high bar as we carefully add new people to the company.

With that in mind, I’m thrilled to welcome Katelynn Nutter to Sterling Strand as a Partner. I hired Katelynn when I was at Citadel to work on my team, and I’ve always known she’s someone I wanted to work with again. Her combination of precision, polish, empathy, and grit is rare, and exactly what this work requires. We couldn’t be more excited to have her.

Medallion Hires a Chief Product Officer

Thrilled to share that Leah Wajnberg has joined Medallion as Chief Product Officer. Leah brings deep healthcare experience and a proven track record scaling enterprise products at world-class companies, including Spring Health. Mostly notably, she is widely admired for her ability to lead and inspire high-performing product teams.  We’re excited to see the impact she’ll have as Medallion applies AI to fix healthcare’s back-office complexity.
